Student Travel Support

Scholarships from IEEE-GRSS

Student travel support consists of $ 500 USD student scholarship to support partially the travel expenses. The objective of this travel grant is to attend and to present a paper at LAGIRS 2020 Conference,March 22-27, 2020, in Santiago, Chile. In order to apply for this student grant, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Being either a full-time undergraduate or a graduate student in a recognized Institution. A student proof must be presented through the image of your student ID and a letter from your university/institute stating your enrollment and updated grade records.
  2. The student must be a member of both the IEEE and GRSS, to be able to accredit it through the IEEE/GRSS member number.
  3. Have an accepted paper as a first author to be presented at LAGIRS 2020 (respecting the deadlines of submission, as well as the guidelines given in the GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS), for both oral and poster presentation.
  4. Additionally, you can increase your chances to receive a LAGIRS travel grant if:
    1. you bring in co-funding from your institution or other external sources;
    2. you are an active GRSS volunteer in a local GRSS student chapter;
    3. have not received funding from GRSS within the last two years;

Scholarships from ISPRS

The ISPRS Foundation provides travel grants to enable young authors, distinguished speakers, and officially designated Delegates, especially from developing countries, to participate in ISPRS sponsored events and in forums promoting international cooperation, advancements and benefits of the P&RS&SI sciences. Scholarships from University of Chile

The University of Chile will grant 10 students to attend the Conference free of charge. Applications will be accepted until October 30 and the result will be reported on November 30. The application requirements are as follows:

  1. student of the University of Chile.
  2. Tell a letter of recommendation from a professor at the University.
  3. Send an application email to Jaime Hernández ( with the next information:
    • On the subject write "Application for the LAGIRS 2020 UChile Scholarship".
    • Full name, career or academic program, start and end date.
    • Indicate motivation to attend the Conference.
    • Attach recommendation letter.

Scholarships from University of Magallanes

As organizers of the LAGIRS 2020 meeting, the University of Magallanes offers 10 scholarships for students who present papers during the Conference. The scholarship consists of the payment of aero transportation to, and from Santiago, as for conference registration fees.

Applications will be received until November 11th and the results will be announced on November 30, 2019.

The application requirements are:

  • To be a graduate student of the University of Magallanes
  • To have an accepted paper at the LAGIRS 2020 conference
